Handmade in Wallangarra Queensland

I’ve been a maker for over 30 years, with a creative journey that began in sewing and expanded into papercraft in the early 1990s. My love of paper led me to open my first craft shop in Mareeba, later relocating to Smithfield near Cairns. After six years, I transitioned the business online and eventually relocated to Brisbane.

In 2012, I joined Practical Publishing as Commissioning Editor for Australian Simply Cards, later becoming Managing Editor across their Australian titles. When the Australian office closed in early 2019, I continued working with the UK team until 2020, when I was made redundant during COVID.

After more than 20 years in the papercraft industry, I rediscovered my love of fabric and sewing and launched Uniquely Orchard. Today, from my home in Wallangarra, Queensland, I create eco-friendly sewn items, my popular slow stitch kits, and carefully curated craft supplies, with a strong focus on sustainability and creativity.

Alongside sewing, I enjoy op shopping and upcycling, and many of my products are created using second-hand and vintage materials. Occasionally, I come across vintage linens that are simply too beautiful to cut up, and these — along with other quality vintage pieces — are offered for sale in the shop.
